Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2008 Dodge Caravan 1
At 1,200 miles I was going 70mph (cruise control 'on') up a hill on rt 40 in tennessee and the transmission went into limp mode 2nd gear. Engine light came on. I drove the shoulder at 30mph and took an exit. Roadside assist towed it to helms Dodge. They pulled a 'p0750' dtc code (solenoid a fault I think) but the transmission had reset and they couldn't make it go bad in 13 miles of driving. I asked them to check fluid level -- they said they would. They said if it happens again to turn it off for a few minutes and it may reset again. But, I made it home to ohio again without incident. Today, at 2,900 miles, it happened again! my wife had just driven it home from work and parked for 30 minutes (engine off). We went to go out to eat and 1000 feet from home (at 20 mph) it went into limp. But no engine light this time. I drove back into the driveway and let it sit (off) about 10 minutes. Then I tried it again and it shifted okay. I called the kings' Chrysler/Dodge dealer service rep (rob) and he said I should have it towed in by roadside assistance. Which I just did. . . Bill's towing picked it up at 9:15 (11-7-07)to be continued. . . .

Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2000 Dodge Caravan 3
We had 3-transmission failures in our 1990 grand Caravan at <72k miles, which Dodge handled reasonably well. Our 2000 grand Caravan sport had to have its solenoid pack replaced today at ~50k miles, so I suspect a transmission is in its short term future as well. Iv'e read all sorts of horror stories regarding safety issues during these transmission failures, I. E. , drive lines puching through cases, etc. . What is being done about this? isn't a company every liable for its products? my understanding was that the transmissions were fixed, or I never would have bought another Caravan, especially if a safety issue was involved. Is this a safety isssue or not?.

Transmission Solenoid problem of the 1999 Dodge Caravan 4
Transmission needed to be replaced/rebuilt because it was leaking. Had problems with it shifting to neutral while driving with my 3 kids. Now, it is lurching forward by itself while slowing down at a stop light or going in reverse. It is back at the mechanic and they are stating there is 1 or 2 faulty solenoid packs and something about a sensor and not reading correctly. The van had only 50,000 miles on it when this problem first started happening. Spent $2400. 00 1st time at mechanic, other 2 times are for free. Let's face it, people don't normally drive vans because they like them, they drive them because they have young children. This car is not safe in my opinoin at all and I will never buy a Dodge or any of its 'cousins' again. Why hasn't Dodge had a recall for the numerous problems I have read about? OH, and by the way, where is my recall for the airbag light problem?.

The transmission does not downshift out of overdrive. At 43-47 mph, the car lurches and acceleretion is impossible. The first incident occured on April 14 when the car would not accelerate up a hill. Everytime the car was slowing down from 50 mph while going up a hill, the car would lurch and acceleration was impossible. The car came back to the dealership the week of April 23rd but the dealership could not reproduce the problem. A monitor was placed on the car over memorial day weekend but nothing showed up. Again, I brought the car in but the dealership could not reproduce the problem. June 18th I drove with a mechanic and reproduced the pattern within ten minutes after leaving the dealership. The chief mechanic for palmen said it definately was the transmission and replaced the transmission solenoid pack. The problem continued the follwing week when we were on vacation. I brought the car back in and the manager kept it from July 3rd through the 5th. No repairs were made but the put on over 100 miles confirming the problem. They said it was electrical. I was to hear back from them on Monday, July 9th but I had to go in July 11th to find out that they had no results. In the meanwhile, I had driven to louisville and back in the car only to have the same problems continue while I was stuck in a dangerous weather situation(high winds and rain). The car bucked at 42 mph and I could not accelerate. This is a potentially dangerous situation if I cannot get the car to accelerate when the transmission 'gets stuck'. Please help.
Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2000 Dodge Caravan 6
The vehicle transmission would shift gears twice while driving. A solenoid fuel leak was the cause.
